On Condè Nast’s list of top 75 hotels in Europe, the Excelsior Florence is located in Piazza Ognissanti, neighbouring the famous Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery and Pitti Palace in downtown Florence. The Excelsior Florence is one of the great Historic Hotels of the World.

During the recent overall rehabilitation of the Hotel, Chris was involved with conducting fire hazard/risk assessments of fire and life safety features including assessments of egress, detection/alarm, suppression, smoke management and other fire safety related features when with his previous company.   His work included the development of tailored fire/life safety strategies to address stakeholder’s needs and that also limited aesthetic impact to this historic building through use and implementation of a performance based, risk-informed approach to address objectives and credible hazards.

Chris was intimately involved with the development of mitigation options that had limited impact on the historic fabric, use of existing materials to as great a degree as possible and worked closely with local architects and engineers.
