Chris is the Director and Founder of Marrion Fire & Risk Consulting. He has worked for Fire and Risk Management Consulting firms in North America, Asia, Europe and the UK, undertaking fire engineering, preservation and disaster management work around the world.
Chris is a Fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), a Director of the NY Metro Chapter of SFPE, Chairperson of the SFPE Design Basis Fires Committee, and Member of the New York Landmarks Preservation Conservancy. He holds a Master’s Degree in Fire Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer.
He is intimately involved with fire/disaster management, capacity building and education efforts internationally, developing codes and standards, contributing to numerous books including ‘Extreme Event Mitigation in Buildings’, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Report on the World Trade Center. Chris has also presented numerous papers on performance based design and protection of heritage, including for: UNESCO, UNISDR, ICCROM, IberMuseos/IBRAM, NTHP, APTI, and ICOMOS, and is involved with various fire and preservation related committees locally and internationally.
Chris’ work in protecting our cultural heritage from disasters incorporates working closely with stakeholders in developing cost-effective, risk-informed, integrated and sustainable solutions that incorporate local, indigenous knowledge, techniques and people to protect our cultural heritage.
