St Patrick’s Cathedral is a decorated neo-Gothic-style Cathedral that was built from 1858 through 1879.  It is the seat of the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York.   In 1976 it was declared a National Historic Landmark.

During the current renovation project, fire and life safety engineering and consulting work included the development of an holistic, comprehensive fire strategy for St Patrick’s Cathedral using a performance-based approach to address various risks and help protect the Cathedral.  Chris was responsible for developing the fire and life safety strategy and assisting the project team in further implementing this strategy.  The intent of the work was to provide a strategy that was sensitive to the historic building, while having a limited aesthetic impact on the historic fabric while using existing inherent strengths of the building to help address fire and life safety.
